Milky Bearing Grease.. keep pumping?

I installed new brakes on my dual axle trailer so now I can stop on a dime. While doing that I notices two of my hubs had milky looking grease. The wheels turn nice and silent and no play when I shake them.

I tried to replace the inner seal but I messed it up somehow and the seal got bent (first timer). So I put the old seal back in. I do have the ez lube set up and I am wondering if I can keep using current set up as long as I pump new grease in after every dunking. I'm kind of freaked that my first attempt failed and don't to repeat it.

Yes you can, but you need to flush it AFTER each launch, not when your back home, Its a lot simpler to fix it.

Do it right.
For the price of paying a "Professional" to do it you can buy 5 sets of seals and would still not know if he did it correctly either!

Replace the seals with new ones.
The way to learn how to do something properly is by learning all the ways to do it wrong, and then don't do it that way!
Learn from your mistakes, don't run away from them! :)

Once you get a good set of seals in there you will not need to keep putting in more grease.
You are going to spend more time and money on grease than you ever will on the new seals.
You are never going to get ALL the milky grease out by pumping.
That is going to cause rust and failed bearings. More $$$ + Time.
The first time you forget, or get tired of pumping in new grease after every launch, (NOT back at home!) you will be setting yourself up for a roadside repair job.

There is no excuse not to do this.
If you have the confidence to install new brakes there is no reason in the world you can't put in a simple set of grease seals. :D

Now, get in there and Block! Oops, Wrong game plan!

Pumping in new grease is not going to save your hub from rusting away. Replace the seals as mentioned above then you won't have to add any grease.

Remove the hub, clean out ALL milky grease. Use something like brake cleaner to be sure it is properly cleaned. Clean your bearings to remove ALL milky grease. Repack bearings with a quality bearing grease. Install new seals,, reassemble hubs and enjoy your day of boating.

Don't forget to look at where the lip of the seal rides, should be smooth. If it's got a grove warn in it clean it up with some fine sand paper.

Ayuh,.... Unless ya Fix the wheel seals, the brake shoes will be covered in Grease, 'n you'll be without brakes again...

With the added danger of a grease Fire if the brakes Try to work...

Well Bond-o you got me with that. New bearings, seal and races installed. The races sure are a pain and I never thought they would go back in! Tight! I think when I failed b4 I placed the inner bearing IN the seal and then tried to pound the seal in. What a maroon. Anyway, yes it's easy if you just take your time (like most jobs).

P.S. A hockey puck fits perfectly over the hub opening when it's time to pound.
