milky oil

could someone tell me why my oil is milky when I drain the leg, and what could be the cause.

Water is in your oil -- you likely have a bad seal in your gearcase somewhere. <br /><br />The easiest way to find out for sure is to attach a hose (airtight) to the drain port, sink the gearcase underwater, and watch for bubbles as you pump air into the tube. (Don't exceed 5-10 psi)<br /><br />Wherever the bubbles come out is where you need a new seal.

i totally agree with Specks n Reds change the plug seals on the fill and drain plugs.also when wasthe last time you serviced (changed the oil) in the lower unit ? remember to keep it changed i think they say after 100-200 hours or so.alot of people dont do that just like they dont decarb i do both every 100 hours

You got water in there, I would do a pressure test for your L/U. I would get a bike pump with a fitting that will fit yuour L/U. Then you put it in the lower unit in the tank or barrell and wathch the bubbles. It may help narrow down the problem rather than guessing LU are messy.
