I have a 86/87 johnson 30Hp outboard that I first started having trouble overheating, which was fine last year, took it to a shop had carb cleaned etc. first ?, wonder if and how that might affect this problem of overheating. I have a stream at the pee hole, but not much out of exhaust, I removed the cover plate for the th stat - replaced th stat -obviously this motor had been in salt water - cleaned all salt build up out -another question?- could there be salt in other parts of motor I need to address.
finally I now have a milky liquid in one of my cylinders (obviously not firing )what the world is that all about - I can only imagine the worst ie cracked head etc
Please Help ASAP would like to get on the water ASAP
Myron

Milky liquid is ususually oil and water mixture. Where do you see the liquid coming from? exhaust?

I would check compression for consistency between the two cylider first. Is the engine running?

Good luck,

Nam

If you have part of a piston broke off, it will not run for very long. Fixing it will depend on if you can do it yourself, or how much you are willing to spend.

Never fixed one before sure sounds like a fun learning experience - i have a clymers manual, is not much help - do you recomend a diff one for this job. I will prob look to buy a replacement as a quick fix - and tinker with the old one to repair.
