Hey guys...am I remembering correctly that on a 115 and up outboard that the compression should be at least 100psi? and even across all right? I know it should be 100 or better on a small, say 15 hp...

Any motor regardless of size should have good compression and equal within 10% on all cylinders in my opinion. (Size is not important) !!!

So good being 100psi per hole and up correct?

Reason I am asking for a sanity check, I went to look at a 95 stratos 289FS yesterday with a johnson 150 gt on it...all 6 holes were at about 90 psi each adn the power head was supposedly replaced in 2000 and the VRO disconnected. Being that low I shyed away from the deal. he was asking 6800 for the rig, boat was pretty clean, needed some cosmetics here and there, but the compression worried me. I was expecting to see 100 psi or higher. I probably could have decarbed and got the numbers up in the low 100's....but I only get 1 shot at buying a boat according to the wife...gotta get it right on the first one! LOL
