Minn Kota 80PD

I recently purchased a Minn Kota 80PD, and for the life of me I can't remember what the gentleman told me about the wire (Black, Blue/Ground) that runs along the Coiled Cord (from head to base). It has been cut, it doesn't effect how it runs, but it must do something ..... is it for the Auto Pilot maybe?

Its not the Auto Pilot. It has to be either for Universal Sonar or they ran a ground wire to the motor to help eliminate interference with the depth finder.

Thanks ... been about 15 yrs since I owned a boat, and some of this new technology (Universal Sonar) that allows you to use most depth finders I wasn't aware of. After looking at the base of the trolling motor there is what appears to be a sonar
