Minn Kota e-drive tilt issue

I have an 2006 e-drive motor on my Johnson Outdoors Escape Cruz pontoon. The motor will go forward and reverse. The tilt will not work. I bought a spare 2006 e-drive. I verified the tilt motor will not run on the pontoon when I apply 12v direct. I also verified that my spare tilt motor will run when I apply 12v direct. I put the spare working tilt motor on my pontoon e-drive. The tilt will not activate with the switch. Now what do I try? Has my control board got issues? Songbill offered a workaround to another member that I would like to see.
