Minn Kota Edge 40 or 50?

I have a 18ft Charger bassboat..the old trolling motor is just about dead on it..I have looked at the Edge 40 and 50 thrust...I 99% lake fish for Bass so speed with TM isnt that important...the price diff between the 2 at walmart is about 80 bucks...so is that extra 10lbs worth it? I dont fish in heavy winds either..Im not sure whats on mine now, its set up for 12/24v...this edge is just 12v so I will run batteries parallel...I belive this 40lbs should be ok for an 18ft?

I have always believed that you need to get a little more than you think you will need. On windy days you'll be glad you had those extra 10 lbs of thrust.

I have a 40 on the front of my 18' jon boat, and it moves the boat around
just fine for fishing purposes in windless conditions.

Sometimes I wish it had more power. I'd now go with the 50 at a minimum,
although more would be better. Some reserve is nice, when conditions change.
