Minn-kota not working

I have a minn-kota pontoon. Its either a 54 or 56 lb thrust. It is a 24 volt. It worked great until a hard day of waves. I sat waiting for my friend to back the trailer in the water with some good waves and current. I had the motor running the whole time but was not moving much. The motor still turns left to right with no problem. I hard wired the motor itself to a battery and it worked so I know its not burnt up. I replaced the control module and still no motor. The only thing I can think is that it was hard wired to the outlet on the bow instead of a plug and I may have lost a good connection. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks

Check the last connection to the motor for power with a voltmeter/test light. If you have voltage go to the next point of connection and so on.

What model is the motor? Motors around 55lb thrust are normally 12V or older ones can be 12/24V.

Sorry, it is a 64lb. thrust. i took it to the batteries and hard wired it directly to them. Still turns but no motor power. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Minn-kota not working

In your first post you said you hardwired the motor directly to a battery and it ran. That says the motor is good. So the problem is in the wiring from the first junction at the top of the shaft to the batteries. Check for 24 volts at the red and black leads from the batteries and work forward until you lose it. That's the point of the problem. You can also start at the motor and work back towards the batteries. Don't overlook the foot control. They do go bad.
