Minn Kota outdrive mounted trolling motor on a 50 hp 4 stroke

Has anyone ever done this and are there anythings I should look out for?

Although there is nothing inherently bad with the installation, I must ask why you want to go that route when a bow mounted motor is far more effective at controlling boat position especially in windy conditions. Motors like the MinnKota PD and MotorGuide Digital are also far more efficient regarding power consumption.

Because I may be able to get one for about 150, plus it's going on a pontoon boat and a bow mount for that is over 600. My girlfriend has one on the outdrive of her runabout and we have never had a problem getting where we want to go even in high wind.
