I am thinking of getting this for my 15 foot Mirrocraft aluminum boat. it has a flat spot in front to mount this motor but i am not sure if this motor has a hinge type mecanism to easily take it in and out of the water. this is what MK describes but i am not sure if this is what i am thinking about.

"such features as an improved deploy mechanism, a new ergonomically designed foot pedal, and digital electronics. The PowerDrive 2 is equipped with a deploy-assist lever that keeps the motor securely stowed during rough water runs and while trailering, but that also unlocks quickly when you need to deploy the motor. As a result, you can drop in and pursue fish at a moment's notice."

if so, what else do i need to install it? i am thinking of a quick release plate. do i need any rubber mounting hardware for vibration??
any help would be great as i am a novice boater.
Thanks

Re: Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 bow mount questions

Obviously the motor has a tilt (stow and deploy) mechanism or it would not be possible to flip it into or out of the water. The motor can be permanently installed or it can be installed with one of Minnkotas quick release plates that lets the motor be removed for storage or to prevent theft. The mounting kit that comes with the motor contains everything you need. The quick release plate has some rubber washers to provide a little more isolation if you want it. The two piece aluminum Minnkota plate is less than $40 and works great. I have used them for years on my personal boats.

Re: Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 bow mount questions

Thanks Silvertip, i wasn't sure about that as i an new to boating and haven't used one of these trolling motors before. my boat is fairly small, 15 feet and aluminum so do you think that the 55lb thrust will be ok? do you think that i should use a circuit breaker between the battery and the trolling motor?
thanks

I have a 16 foot trihull with the 45lb model. I can trollat 2.4 mph. Ialso added the wireless. I dont like my motor. I am trying to sell it to buy a hand controled unit. Make sure you like the power drive before you buy it.
