I am thinking of buying an 80lb SF 62" shaft hand control bow mount for my G3 1860 jonboat. This is a major purchase for me at about $1100 and I'm wondering if anybody has one and if you like it? ( or is it worth all that $$$? ) I think it would make my boat much better to manuver w precision and in any winds, once I get the giant motor mounted.

Looking at the same motor, just a smaller version. I'd like to hear any impressions or pros/cons too.

I owned a trolling motor repair shop for years. I would highly recommend a riptide. Every couple of years replace the shaft seals it will give you money's worth.

Re: Minn Kota Riptide

Thanks for replies, from what I gather, the motors themselves are the same w the SF, SM models but the SFs are more expensive because of the robust breakaway, lift assist mount? I have issues w a worn out mount currently and think the SF mount would perform better, last and stay tight longer than the cheaper Bowguard 360 of the SM series? I would rarely use it in salt water, but need a 62" shaft I can't seem to find in a freshwater motor. I'd love to hear from some SF owners about their opinions of their motors. All the reviews I've found are for the older motors w/o the new monoarm mount.
