Minn Kota running slow

My minn Kota endura 30 with tiller, when I hooked it up i had to turn the prop to get it to start spinning. Now it wont spin unless the battery charger is hooked up. When I take the battery charger off the motor stops.

Mine was running slow, hooked the meter to it this weekend, fully charged batteries, 38 volts, turn motor on high-16 volts, these batteries all looked good (12.5 or better). They do make a "load tester" just for this type of check.

epinett,<br /><br />Have the battery load tested. A bad battery can still show a good voltage.

Had the same problem with mine. Here what happened was it got water inside and started to corrode. I took it apart cleaned it good and sprayed with WD-40. Works fine. My prop had a vibration and knocked out the seal.

Thanks Men, It was the battery. the old battery tested good but would only turn motor with charger hooked up. Now I have new battery and works fine.

If you don't already have one, pick yourself up a Guest or equivalent brand "smart" charger. It might seem expensive, but TRUST ME, it will save you hundreds of $$ in batteries for years to come. I'm on the 5th season with my trolling batteries now! And it will virtually eliminate the frustrations of having battery problems while out on the water. You can safely just leave these things plugged in indefinitely and your batteries will be tip-top whenever you're ready to hit the lake.
