In preparing the lower unit of my '86 150 Yamaha, I removed one of the two metal cover plates on each side of the lower unit. (see pics) Now, after many,many attempts, I am unable to put it back on. It looks simple, but the rwo springs uinder the cover make it a real challenge. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. Is there some trick I need to know to get this plate back in place so I can insert the horizontal screw? All responses appreciated.
