I was missing the late 60's early 70's style MFG insignia/emblem for the side of my boat. I was also missing most of the aluminum rub rail end pieces.

So I decided to make my own. Got my hands on an original emblem in fair condition, cleaned it up and made a mold. Then practiced casting emblems until I got it right. Took about 20 tries before I could make them consistantly defect free. Last summer I sold quite a few on e-bay and I got quite a few nice comments on them and the rub rail ends.

Here is an emblem...

And this is the rub rail end mold with original piece and new cast piece right out of the mold to the right.

If you want more info about them, just drop me a note at mjmullen4 @ yahoo.com (I spaced it out to fool the email harvesters).

I ended up painting the shark blue to match my boats colors, and the rubrail end piece is one of my solid cast pieces. The boat was used all last summer in salt water and they held up beautifully. They are made of polyester resin and fillers and painted with exterior paint then clear coated.

Its these finishing details that take time!

Mark.

Re: Missing parts

I just acquired a 1963 14' runabout MFG in very good condition I have been offered $300.00 as is. Is this a good price? The 18HP 18304 Evinrude is not sparking. Just wondering?

Re: Missing parts

Could be. Can you post some pics? If it is in "very good condition" it is probably worth much more.
