I just bought a 2000 Cobalt 293 with twin Volvo 5.0's. I believe they are GLi's (throttle body injection) with duoprop drives. Anyway, it appears as though the former owner or his mechanic removed the engine alarms. I don't get a tone when I turn the key to the "on" position before starting, and when I picked up the boat the port engine hit 200 degrees because of a bad impeller and the fact that the gauge was blocked by the gps - going to take care of that this winter. Again, no alarm. Where should the alarms be located, and where can I get replacements? I have looked throughout the engine compartment and behind the helm. Nothing. There is a round connector and a bullet connector that are not connected to anything at the rear of each engine. Could that be the hookup?

Thanks guys

Most alarms are under the dash. Look in the Adults Only section and download your appropriate manual. TAke a look at the wiring section. and figure out which color wires you're looking for then do the test prescribed in the manual. It's simple and not terribly time consuming.

Some had the alarms on the engines in that time frame. Do you have the full model number of your engine, or better yet the Volvo Serial number. then I can look up to see if yours' does or not. Year isn't much of a help with these things.
