WOULD SOME ONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS LITTLE RED FILM CASE LOOKING THING ON THE BOTTOM OF
web page IS?

I HAVE THE WIRING DIAGRAM (ALSO ON WEB PAGE)WHICH STATES THAT IT'S A TIMER (FOR THE HOURS ON MOTOR ?) BUT IT'S A SOLID PEICE AND NEED HELP WITH IT'S USE?
ALSO I BOUGHT A COMPRESSION GADGE (ALSO ON WEB PAGE) BUT THE RUBBER PLUG DOESN'T FIT. IT'S TO BIG ..DOES IT REQUIRE A CERTIAN GADGE FOR CERTIAN MOTORS???WHY DON'T IT FIT ARE THEY NOT STANDARD GADGE'S

I thought that it might be a flasher timer , like for the flashing indicators on your car.

Didnt see the comp. tester.

Re: MISTERY ITEM AND COMPRESSION GADGE

Hi Marty,

Its the timer. It keeps track of the number of hours on the motor. When the dealer connects some diagnostic equipment to the motor, it will read off the hours.

I didn't see the compression gauge on your page, but if it has a tapered or pointed rubber "plug" on the end, it is probably the type that you have to hold against the spark plug hole while cranking the motor. Be prepared to press hard.

Is that a 1990? What hp?

Re: MISTERY ITEM AND COMPRESSION GADGE

It could be one of two things. 1). it's the "timer" for your livewell. Automaticly turns the pump "on" for a minute or two and then turns it "off" a minute or so! OR 2) it very likely may be the alarm horn (overheat, low oil or low oil). Trackers used a real "El Cheapo" kind not un-like the one you show! They were very very cheap and often did not work to tell you that you had a problem, untill the motor blew up as you did'nt know there even was a problem!! I can't see the colors of the wires but if there's a purple, black and tan wire, then I'd say it's probably the horn!!

Re: MISTERY ITEM AND COMPRESSION GADGE

well i thank all of you who have answered my post.what i've got so far is 3 possable items 1) (GRANT S) thinks it's a FLASHER TIMER.
(MARK42) thinks it's a MOTOR TIMER.
(PV) thinks it's a LIVE WELL TIMER.
so i guess were all on the right track with it being a timer. BUT WHICH ONE???
(MYOUTBOARD) thanks for your info from what i can gather the one i have would work if i lean on it so hard that the rubber stopper wedges in there nicely or. or maybe i could just buy the one you show off the sears site (i like that one).
(PV)the wires are red, black & green harnessed to red, black and brown w/stripe so it's not the VRO warning horn now it could have something to do with the live well and it is a timer that much i know the wire dia. shows me that but little on what it's used for.
there is some writing on it thou.
CAPLUGS
RCL-16
if that helps someone to ID this.
WELL THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR INPUT I MUST MOVE ON TO MORE PRESSING PROBLEMS
why am i wet fouling and running like crup???
MAR T
