Re: Mixed gas versus oil injection -best lubrication?
Yes. Both methods get oil into the engine where 2-strokes need it. Both are safe for the internal parts. But beware of disconnecting oil injection pumps that use the oil itself for lubrication. Even though you're mixing oil with gas, these pumps can run dry and cause engine damage in the area that turns the little pump.

The gas does not "break down the oil". The gas only helps suspend and distribute the oil evenly. The same oil is there, just not as concentrated.

Oil doesn't generally have a shelf life or go bad. However the mixed oil is only as good as the fuel it is mixed with. Because gasoline that is unused for long periods of time needs a fuel stabilizer added. Otherwise it can damage your engine.

One problem with mixing gas is partial fills. It's hard to keep whats in the tank at the exact fuel to oil ratio. There's always some calculation and measuring error, either lean or rich.
