I just bought a new MK Edge 45lb. thrust, do I need a circuit breaker on it, the last trolling motor on this boat didn't have one on it. Is it absolutely necessary or just a precaution. how should I wire it up? THanks

Well you can get away without one if you are very careful and have a method where you can disconnect the leads very quickly.
But remember, wires get hot in a hurry with a short and you would have to be quick.
The CB is highly recommended but you don't have to buy one of these expensive ones for them. Auto stores sell them much cheaper. For a 45# motor I would go 60 amps.
