there are some funny reports from the Minnesota DNR Enforcement during Opening Fishing Day.

Here are my 2 favorite:

Nikki Shoutz, Pine River: A teenage angler fishing with two adult men was happy to say that his group had nine walleyes and four of them were over 20 inches. The statewide generic limit is only one walleye in possession over 20 inches (per angler). They breathed a sigh of relief as the CO measured the four longest walleyes and only three were over. One was not quite 20 inches. None of the men had ever heard of this statewide Minnesota regulation.

Todd Langevin, Center City: One family of four was heading to the access and turned around when they saw officer Langevin. As Langevin watched, they started to throw fish back into the water. When officer Langevin reached the boat, nine crappies were floating in the water. After scooping them up and counting 64 more on board, the couple was cited for 33 crappies over the limit.

You can read the whole article here, just scroll down past the Invasive Species section.

I love reading the sportsman weekly, with all the dnr reports. People do some crazy things when they are in the outdoors.

It's nice to see that in the land of thousand lakes you guys have a limit on panfish. Here, I hear guys complained all the time about not being able to get "a mess" anymore.
