The state of MO came out with an interesting catch 22.
Due to Mercury accumulation, they advise that no one eat large mouth bass greater than 12 in. in length.

For the majority of impoundments in MO, less than 12 in. must be thrown back.

Oh well

deej, they will let the guys eat bass:
"Anyone not in the sensitive population can safely consume the fish. The sensitive population includes children 12 years of age or younger, nursing mothers and women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant."

The other fun part is they would like us to limit our intake of crappie and catfish to 1 meal a week :(

ColdFire, you are correct about the detail of "sensitive population" Before this change in position the advice was this population should limit to one serving per week. The "sensitive population" is a significanly large group.
I just thought this was an interesting bureaucratic catch 22 :p

NY has many mercury warnings, too. Our lake went to 15" or 16" warning on bass, last year. I don't particularly like the taste of bass, but will benefit from the side result of more bass released. I do like to keep a few walleyes, now and again, in the 15-18" size.
