I purchased the Mobster Tabs from this site and put them on yesterday. Today, I took the boat out for the first "tabbed" run and even though I think I need to lower the pressure a bit, I was very satisfied with the results. I say I have to adjust the pressure because when running wide open, I am getting a lot of spray hitting the motor and it seems to be coming from the tabs so I think I remember someone saying that in this case, lower the pressure a little and see if that fixes the spraying. The tabs eliminated the porpoising and gave me at least another 4 mph and possibly 6 mph in actuality since my straight stretches of water were pretty short so no long runs could be made. I will make a few more runs playing with the pressures and message back with the results. Thanks to all for your help.

Pilot;

How about a little more info on your boat? Glad to hear you are happy! How is the acceleration? Hole Shot? Rinde and Handling?

The common thinking is that Bass boats will run slower with Trim Tabs. Guess your finding out that our system is different!

Thanks for the post.

Re: Mobster Tabs Installed and now for the results!!

John, the Xpress H56 is a 18'3" mod-v hull aluminum hull bass boat. It came with a 2005 Yamaha Four Stroke 115. Before the mobster tabs, I was having problems with porpoising and low engine rpms which kept the speed down to about 42 mph. Also, I was having a problem that when I would come into a turn, the boat would chine walk and lean to one side real hard. Now the turns are a little better, the porpoising is gone, and acceleration is quicker. As for the hole shot, I never had a problem with that, but now it is even better. During my test runs, I got about 4-6 mph better top end but I think that will improve when I lower the pressure a little because I think the tabs are still digging in the water a little while running since I am getting the spray I talked about in the previous post. I will try to take some pictures of the install and post them when I get a chance.

i had same problem with my smart tabs too. usually the spray problem isnt from too much presure, its from them being mounted too low on the transom.

i raised mine up about 1/3 of an inch and its made a day and night difference
