model year of40 merc

Model # 1040520<br />Serial #5994096<br />I just bought a '69 Larsen 16' and it came with a 40 Hp Merc. can anyone tell me the model year. I need to get some parts.<br /><br />the transom brackets are failing at the lower bolt hole; strbd the bottom 1/2 of the hole is gone, port the same problem but its still hanging by a thread.<br /><br />The stearing is almost seized. Its not the cable.<br />any and all suggestions are appreciated.<br /><br />29" Blues all over Quick's Hole - Cuttyhunk on 6/3<br /><br />tight lines, thanks

Could you please describe your Merc 40?<br />Does it have Lt/Dk blue band and white text <br />or silver text ?<br />One piece aluminum wrapper cowling ?

Thanks for your quick replies. A local o/b motor head confirmed '80 40 EL.
