Modern engine size!

My old classic motorboat was designed for 40hp which I understand the power was measured at the flywheel, What would be modern HP on 2 stroke of say 1980s Evinrude/Johnson. thank you for help. JBD

Quicker holeshot and higher top speed. They're about 15% more powerful than when measured the old way. Except for Force which never changed methods. Your 40 would be about equivalent to an older 46Hp (which they never made, but you get the idea).
