I was reading this other day on this website about how to modify the 1970 Johnson 60 hp by removing the amplifier and replacing with coil, ballist resistor and condensor, well I have such an engine and low and behold it has already been modified almost exactly how it written on this website, but it has one extra part that looks like a very old amplifier but not the one that would have been installed on this motor orginally. I am trying to discover what it is. The part number is 315480 and is located on the front cover. about three inches long and six sides with ends coming to a point where holes are located for screwing. There are four wires coming from it. The wires almost match the orginial amp but except for the black and white stripe wire is not their. yellow, yellow gray stripe, two black.

model 60es-70d does anyone know what the d means?
serial# J3302881
I am restoring back to original but want to retain how this engine is currently modified for future reference is why I am trying to find what this part is.
Thanks
