No turnin' back now. Since it apparantly will be cold forever, I went ahead and cut out the consoles and cropped the splashwell even with the rest of the rear portion of the upper deck. I will then glass in a new rear portion for the splashwell and add a hinged panel to lock into place to bring the rear of the splashwell up to deck height. I need a hinged panel due to the before mentioned problem of having an insanely tall motor.

I now have a 9ft 4in by 5ft 9in area to work with, and that does not include the forward seating area. Here's the pics....

That's great Jason. I think you should download all your posts from this board and put it in a step-by-step album form on CD and then offer to sell it to guys like me who will oneday be doing the same type of refit on their "skanky beast." I have one that has a year or two left in her in present form, then I will be attempting what you are doing now. Keep the progress reports coming.

It is supposed to start getting up into the 60s this week, the glassing will commence. Thank God daylight savings time kicked in, I'll have some daylight to work with.

djohns, Tower Of Power Baby!

Thanx for all the support guys, I am still going back and forth on the center console vs pilot house concept. I am starting to lean back towards the center console, and getting a T-Top. Since it won't just be used for fishin', I kinda don't want that enclosed feeling, plus the weight of the pilot house will be more than the center console. We'll see.....
