Momentary loss of power with new prop

The ice is breaking up and I'm itching to get out there again!

And get to the unresolved issues from last season...

I replaced my stock 3 blade prop on my 2004 Four Winns Volvo gi-e sx-m with a solas 4 blade 15 pitch prop.

It was a tough call between the iboats ss solas 4 blade 15 and 17 pitch (stock was a ss 3 blade 19 pitch) but my rpm was very low, elevation is high and I was having a hellova time getting on plane with a full load. The new prop gets me on plane in literally half the time, which is great for towing skiers/boarders bit I noticed something unusual...

When I go WOT, occasionally I would feel a momentary (less than a second) loss of power, followed by continued acceleration. If I ease into the throttle, I would usually not feel the loss of power.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I though the steep pitch could be creating cavitation, or an improperly seated prop... A month before replacing the prop I found one ignition cable in the bilge, so I cleaned, greased and reinstalled it but maybe a misfiring plug?

I give it a month before the ice will be off!!! Happy boating! Thank you!

Re: Momentary loss of power with new prop

When the pressures go up in the combustion chamber it actually becomes harder for the plugs to fire.
If there is a weakness in the ignition system it may show up under stress.
A momentary stumble could be from a poor carb performance like a weak accelerator pump.
With the 15 you may have to watch the rpm especially if you go to a lower elevation.
