Which of the words below is least like the others? The difference has nothing to do with vowels, consonants or syllables.

TWIN CHIME SCORE PLATE CARE HAT

I say "care" is different because as a noun, it is not a tangible object.

Wouldn't what's on the board be the "score". How bout a "score" of music. Pick any sheet music as an example.

I agree with Dogsdad - "care" is the only non-physical object. A Score can be a mark of physical damage - such as what you often get on a brake disc. Still a physical thing.

The image is of a scoreboard...if the score is tangible, then so is your age, your fuel economy, etc.

I'll buy the musical score and the brake disc, though.

But it has to be "chime" because it's the only one that isn't in this sentence: "My twin brother doesn't care if you wear your hat when you cross the plate to score the winning run."

Well, that's the one, JTexas, but the wrong reason.

Only "care" can be traditionally typed with one hand on a qwerty keyboard.

"Which of the words below is least like the others? "

By the way that this question is worded, my understanding is the answer has to be more than one word.

"is" implies one word, Darth.

C'mon, guys! JTex has the right word, but the wrong reason.

Why is CHIME least like the other words?

Darth, you forgot your English 101...the word "words" is object of the proposition "of" - the predicate is "is" which is singular. So it depends on what the definition of is is.

All the letters in "chime" are in the first half of the alphabet?

Re: Monday brainteaser: Odd man out.

Okay. Time's up.

CHIME is the only one in the group that does not leave a common English word when the first letter is removed.

JTex only gets half credit because he couldn't explain why, but half is more than anybody else got.
