Montgomery Ward 5hp outboard motor

I have a Montgomery Ward 5hp made by Gale Buccaneer. Model GG-8960A. I would like to change the water impeller. If anyone knows how to get the gear shift linkage off I would be thanking you. atled2004

You will need to remove the powerhead to get at it.

I've done it once on a similar Johnson. It wasn't a big job at all.
