Just was given a old 14' aluminum boat & a clinton outboard, 7.5 HP, Model # K7503110F
Serial # 1060780
Type # XTV52259
Can anyone provide some information on it, such as the year it was built, Fuel mixture, gear lube, etc? I would like to find a manual if they can be had, and any parts sources. Also any opinions regarding the useability / practicality / reliablity of operating an old machine like this. I have never owned a boat or outboard before and would pefer to not sink much money into it until I know if I will use it very much. Thanks!

Hi Gary
I was also given a 7.5 HP Clinton last week. I found this forum through a google search looking for the same info as you. If I find anything I'll post it here.

Just checked an owner manual on a K750, fuel ratio is 50/1, the lower end should be 90wt oil. Not sure of the year but would guess in the 70's. Clinton is still in business and still have some parts their address is Clinton Engines Corp. 605 E. Maple, PO box 860, Maquoketa, IA 52060-0860 Phone (319)652-2411.
I have K900 9hp that I like very much good little motor and does not eat up the gas like my 18hp Evinrude.

Thanks mfbear! I'm looking forward to trying to start this engine. I want to check it over first so I don't do it any harm.
How big an engine can a 14' aluminum boat usually handle well?

Most boats had a plate on the transom that stated the max hp and weight, if yours is old enough the plate may not be there. Probably best not to go over a 25 to be on the safe side, the more hp the more gas your gonna burn. You should make sure the impeller is in good shape and probably best if you have a spare on hand.
