I'm looking for the best place to put mooring cleats on my pontoon. The railings come within an inch from the front and sides of the boat. Someone told me to put them on the trim along the outside edge of the boat but I don't know if that is the best spot?

Re: mooring cleats

I have a Lowes SS230 and they were welded on top of the toons in the front. The toons stick out about a foot past the deck. In the back they are mouted to the deck away from the rail on the the very back corners. So far this set up has seem to work very well.

Ours are installed in the deck frame on the sides just above the pontoons. We used Eye - Bolts

That's how mine is... No cleats, just u-bolts (3 fore, 2 aft). I'm thinking of using snap hooks on all the lines so I can easily remove the lines when not in use.

Re: mooring cleats

I needed to add cleats with eyelet holes so I bought the mid-sized version and put them here on the back....

On the front, if I didn't have room on the deck, I would probably mount them on the sides.....like where my MD letters are on the photo (sideways) and brace it well in the back.

...also, some pics might help us help you.....
