Is it normal for the seems on a brand new mooring cover to leak? The boat and the cover a new this year, and when it rains the boat get very wet under the cover, It appears to be coming from the seams. I wiuld not expect it to be dry, but when I went under the cover it was soaking wet.

Re: Mooring Cover Questions

If the water is comming from the seams of the cover then there are numerous prepatory wax's and the like to put on it. I've had this problem but in my case vasoline did the trick.
If on the other hand the water is from evaporation and re-condensation on the inside of the cover then you'll need to find some way of airing the inside of it.
Just a thougfht sport.
Ross

It is leaking at the seams, The reason I am asking about it is that It is a brand new boat.

The dealer has been very difficult about serveral minor problems. (If they are not resloved very soon, that will be a topic for a new post)

It is my feelings that it should not be leaking while it is this new, 6 weeks! Please tell me if this is normal, If so I will fix it myself, If not I will add it to the list of things for the dealer.

Spm,e covers need waxing or other treatments.
Ask the dealer if there is something the cover should be treated with to seal the seams. That way it's not a complaint but a question and they also can't second guess you if you try something and it doesn't work. If they won't give you any advice, I would call the manufacturer direct and ask them.

Re: Mooring Cover Questions

I have tried the dealer, He will not even return my phone calls, I have started talking to the boat manufacturer. They have said they will help, but they are moving slow. I have a list of about 10 items, that need fixing/ adjusting/ replacing.

If they do not pick up the speed on thier responses, or they are unable to get the dealer to help me I am going to start a new post, Listing all of the problems, The dealer and the manufacturer. And what they both have been doing and saying.

Just a thought:

Are you using some kind of cover support pole? It is important to help water run off the cover.
