Mop N Glow on the deck and other tricks

I was reading on other sites about people using this on their decks to give that nice look we are all after. Has anybody else tried it.

Post some of your money saving ideas you have found.

1) Walmart for a lot of small items and good prices on 2 cycle oil.
2) Academy Sporting goods lots of discounted items lately check out the end caps. I found a small bilge pump with float switch included for under 20.00.
3) Nuts and bolts from the local hardware store.
4)I found tubs of 5 min epoxy at walmart for 2.00 very good for quick repair.

Have you tried rain-x on your prop to cut back on prop slip?

Please explain more love to learn new tips what exactly does it do and how does it work?

Rain-x is a silicone based water repellant. Applying it to the prop, enables the prop to cut through the water with less friction or drag. This will put less load on the motor, which will allow for faster acceleration and higher top speed. I think the term prop slip, that I used in my first post was not correct for this application. Im going to try applying it to the bottom of my hull this weekend to see if I can lower my planning speed. I hope it will also improve my gas milage.

I got a better hole shot and I get on plane quicker after putting it on the prop and lower unit but I seem to rev higher now so I'm thinking about a new prop to bring the revs back down. Never thought about the hull thing though, good call. Take a gps with you and report back.

Will be interested to see if this works. Most America's Cup boats have gone to a rough bottom, similar to a shark's skin. Point being that a rougher surface causes turbulance at the hull decreasing the thickness of the "boundery layer" which ultimately reduces drag.

Based on this, I would expect the boat to run slower, but the motor run harder to maintain speed. It will be a good experiment.

Wow, it never occured to me to use it on the lower unit. I think I will start with the hull and document the improvements. Then I will do the lower unit, and see how it goes. I think it is always better to do this in steps, this way if someone cant afford to to it all at once, they can pick and chose what is best for them at that time. If it keeps working this well, we may try it on the bottom of the tube. I'll keep you posted.
