The only thing surprising in this is why anyone would think the German reaction would be any different.

From the beginning of this administration, we have effectively thumbed our noses at what Germany, and the EU cared about. From the steel tarrifs, to the Kyoto agreement, to cancelling the ABM treaty, and now Iraq, we've made it pretty clear that we really don't care what Germany thinks.

To the extent what is good for America is good for Germany, Germany has nothing to worry about. OTOH, when what is good for Germany is not good for America, Germany has lots to worry about.

If I were Germany, that would worry me as well.

I can only sincerely hope, wish and pray that the rest of the world wants US to quit being the worlds police.

Then all we'd have to do is convince the Democrats and Republicans.

I got an even better idea to go along with THAT one. Not only do we quit policing the rest of the world, we quit giving them cash as well. Imagine the wealth we could retain and the taxes we could cut if we just chose to tell some people to go pack sand for a change?

Maybe Woodrow had a pretty good idea AFTER ALL.
