As if getting married wasn't enough, I went ahead and got hired at the Police Department as a full time officer, starting Jan 2nd. Guess my bug killin' days are drawing to a close...

Congratulations Jason, but I don't understand the bug killing reference. Probably just something I overlooked.

Techno, I have been an exterminator for the last seven years, and have been pursuing law enforcement for the last few years. I guess I take it for granted most folks on here know I was killin' for a livin'...

Remember the first rule of the Police Academy:

Be Invisible

If you can't be invisible, be inconspicuous.

If you can't be inconspicuous, you'd better be getting damn good grades academically - that's the only thing that'll offset whatever is making you stick out to the instructors!

Oh - and start running. Now. A couple miles a day. Every other day. Pushups/situps/pullups on the off days. NOW.

(trust me...)

Good Luck!

Matt M

Seems like you could still be in the exterminating business, if you know what I mean!

Congrats and treat the good guys fairly and give it to the bad guys!

Aha, ok, well lets hope that you are never forced to kill in the line of duty, but be safe out there.

Thanx guys. Yeah, I have been running and all that. I can pass their physical fitness test on any given day, but I prefer to do better than passing. I am looking forward to the academy, I always like training.

A belated congrats Jason. that's a real milestone in your life!!!

I was in the business for over 28 years and would have stayed longer, but elected head of the "company" was a real Calpornia leftist, with "PC" being his middle name, which caused a number of veteran's to leave early. I believe Idaho is still conservative as my S.O. was into the late 80's.

Good luck to you and watch your back.

...Bob in Calif... ...Support the USO...

Jason, what Dept. are you with? I was with Cassia County for 30 years, four years as patrol and 26 as Staff Sgt. in investigations. Loved almost every minute.

Dave, I am with Sandpoint PD. Its a great department. So far so good, only have 4 weeks left and I am done. As far as the physical stuff goes, my 36 year old butt is running in the top 10% of the class, faster than a good amount of the 22 year olds. No worries...

Re: More Good News (update)

The more I think about it, I think I went through the Academy with a guy from Sandpoint. He had a wooden leg and had some trouble getting through the Academy cause no one thought he could do the work of an officer. Turns out he could outrun most of them. I just can't remember his name. This would have been back in the late 70's.

Re: More Good News (update)

As a matter of fact, I finished this last Friday the 17th, and now I am back home. It was fun, but it is good to be home. I still have another 14 weeks of training, but it is on the street with my training officer, so it will be fun being able to apply what I have learned so far.
