More manifold questions

posted multiple times and probably asking same question in a different order. i have a 99 blue water with 5.0l v8, minimal water is coming out the back of the boat on the star side but plenty (normal) off the port side when hooked up to the muffs. i had the impeller changed but did not cure the symptom of low water flow (maybe i need to take it to a prostate boat Dr). someon posted answers from a earlier post of a dry joint(?) but really just want the quickest and fastest and CHEAPEST (but done right the first time) way of getting the boat on the water. i read one of the posts of buying cheap manifolds and the problems associated with them. so i found on ebay a manifold (mercruiser genuine) with part number of 87114a19 and he states that it supercedes with several other part numbers including the number 860246a7 which someone had found for me earlier. if i buy this part, it comes with one gasket, is that all i need and to change the manifold. and to install it, it appears to have some linkage hooked up to it, is it pretty cut and dry to change it out and do i need any other sealants/gaskets/??? the serial number is 0l080844. also is it ok to just change one manifold, i was told the risers were changed around 2 years ago but no way of verifying. i plan on using the boat 30-50 hours a year on lakes and intercoastal and will take very good care of the boat once its running. would like to increase it but, i coach my kids flag football, school soccer, basketball, watch someone coach their baseball, golf and tennis and desparately trying to improve my golf score, so what little time left is for work and the wife. maybe one day i can devote more time for the boat

It appears that you're planning to do your manifolds yourself.

If so why not remove the manifolds and have a look? If the manifolds are plugged (with rust) you can bet the elbows are not far behind unless they're new and if they are you can keep them.

You can buy complete exhaust manifold/riser kits for a 5.0/5.7L v-8 right here on iBoats.

You can also get them from other places such as Ebasicpower, Doug Russell etc.

I saw something like $389(+shipping) or so on Ebasic power for the whole kit manifolds, risers, gaskets, etc....the other places are similar.

Get yourself a service manual.

do some price checking....your mileage may vary....

I would replace both. Manifolds are not things to "cheep out"!

Hard to say what you need without a serial #, but if the manifolds & risers are original, they are probably due for replacement....
Only by pulling them & visually inspecting their condition will tell you that.....
Most likely the are partially clogging fron scale stuck in the riser dumps...

DO NOT change just one manifold, or one riser, when you do, the old one will suddenly start overheating. Water follows the path of least resistance, and would flow thru the new one and forget about the old one.
You need manifolds and risers.
Their PN's are 860246A10 for the manifolds and 807988A2 for the risers. You will also need the proper riser to manifold gasket. See this SB.

Anyone seen the new mercruiser manifolds that look like they're essentially a cast header? Larger than a traditional manifold, with individual runners cast in place... Wondering how long until they're available for big blocks and how big a fortune they're going to cost?
