OK- I'm pretty well set on a Sea Hunt 18'6"CC. My local dealer has some with Yam115 4St. and the hull maker says this combo has top speed of 41mph.It's just under19k. He's got same boat for 16-4 with a Johnny and says this motor "Is really closer to 115hp. I've heard others say similair. I can get the 'rude 115 for 18-4.What to do? Like anyone, I like to save $ but I'm willing to spend what it takes to be happy. I do like the 'rude's 7 year Warnt. offer. Can anyone help me with the nicest problem I've had all decade?

A 7 yr. warranty says alot, you pay a little more now and possibly save alot later. We all hope never to have to use a warranty but it is always nice knowing it's there. If the rest of the package suits your needs, then you can't really go wrong. I don't see myself having that kind of dilemma for awhile so I just thought I'd share yours!! :D Good luck and enjoy it whatever you decide.<br /><br />Taz

No question IMO. Go Cadillac. The Yamaha F115 is known to be one of the best and most enjoyable outboards to own. You really can't go wrong. Spend a little more and be happy.<br /><br />Why go Evinrude Ficht when you can go proven 4-stroke? Even the Johnson would be a better choice, as it is a proven carbon copy Suzuki 115 with white paint. The Johnson/Suzuki runs a pretty high gear ratio and is a bit heavier than the Yamaha, but it's been a great outboard.<br /><br />IMO the 7-year warranty by Evinrude (Bombardier) is nice, but it's a marketing attempt to get consumers to buy their ever-developing product with a long trail of failures. It shows confidence by Bombardier, but personally I'll let someone else stick their neck out first.<br /><br />"Is really closer to 115hp. I've heard others say similair."<br /><br />What the heck does that mean?

See the string on Bombadier on this same page. Forktail speaks with forked tongue. It's the Chevy-Ford-Dodge discussion, and Bomb has made it pretty clear that they'll support whatever they sell.

Docja<br />I believe what your dealer was pointing out is that the 4-strokes just don't run as fast as the 2-strokes at this time. As for which brand, I'd go with the Rude!
