more snap out of the hole

I have a 1994 115 that seems to bog out of the hole. It is on a 15 ft tri hull. I think I should have more snap out of the hole. I went to a 15 pitch prop which helped significantly. When I pulled the plugs, I compared them with plugs a couple of years old and the old ones were a light tan color (I think normal) and the ones I just pulled out were a little black. I had the carbs rebuilt 2 summers ago, and the compression is 120 all around. The VRO is off, and I mix 50:1. The motor doesn't miss wide open, doesn't miss at idle, although when it is warm, it sometimes doesn't want to idle in gear. I seems to me the rpms aren't coming up quick enough. Even with a 17 prop on there, I don't think I should have a problem getting 2 adults out of the hole on tubes.

115 hp on a 15' boat should snap out of the hole easly and run about 40 mph easy w/ 17"/19" prop, the smaller prop is masking your problem, I would look at performance issues, carbeurators, link and sync ect, electrical, if it is not idleing properly you have some sort of perfomance problem be careful of a lean condition it will cost you a power head if you keep running it..

First things that you need to do are to get new thermostats, decarb the engine and run a compression test.

I agree with xtraham on what you should expect for performance.

If your plug is fouled with carbon, so is the combustion chamber, rings, etc.

Thanks. How do I decarb the engine?
