More than normal amount of oil puddles on the water at idle?

Rodbolt asked this question in another topic when trying to determine if the fuel pumps were bad.

I just had my carbs rebuilt (1993 225 375 hrs) and noticed this. Wasn't sure if it was coming from the exhaust or from the water tell-tale.

It is hard to make an apples/apples comparison since the idle speed is higher than it was before the rebuild (I hadn't noticed how much it had slipped).

Does this mean I better hurry up with the fuel pumps (they are in the mail - never been replaced) or did something get done wrong in the carb rebuild (engine runs beautifully and job was done by a yard with a Yamaha man known to be good)?

a certain amount of oily waste is normal. however in the water if your seeing a lot of rainbow bubbles then you may have a leaking diaphram on a punp. the idle spped should be around 700 on the flusher
