morse controls for an outboard.....

has anyone done this?
i have a very nice set of morse controls (two handle style) that i would like to use on my starcraft, im sure there may be some rigging to connect the control cables but i would rather re-use these then try and rebuild/find another control box....

im building a center console for the starcraft so im not much worried about space, and in my opinion, outboard control boxes are just too crammed full of any and everything to be considered user friendly if you need to tear into one..

i noticed when shifting the merc control that one cable is pushed out while the other is pulled in, so that part may be difficult to work out, not sure how that whole system works, this is my first round with outboards....

hopefully there will be some positive responses and maybe even a few who have been there done it with good advice

Morse is a very common brand and all sorts of cables and ends are available. Most older control boxes I have seen are generic, meaning that internally, the linkage can be changed to suit mounting on either side of the boat. It is highly likely that you will be able to do what you want without too much trouble. Yeah, you may need to get a bit creative, but it still should be do-able.

Morse Controls no longer exists. They were bought out by Teleflex. So think Teleflex when looking for parts. Iboats sells Teleflex.

they work well.
in fact I have a pair of twin lever morse boxs on my 20ft seapro with an F150.
all you need is the morse barrel ends on the box end,a set of 33 or 40 series cables and the correct engine side adapters.
also make sure the controls or the engine have start in gear protection.
