Re: mosquitos

My wife (from Georgia), calls them "mosquito hawks"

Mosquito Hawks actually eat regular mosquito's. They are very large and look just like a mosquito.

I have heard of the Listerine method for keeping mosquitos under control.
Clorox, or something containing chlorine will keep them from making stagnate water a breeding ground.

The big "Mosquito Hawks" are really a Crane Fly. Unfortunately the do not eat mosquitos. They also don't sting.

Re: mosquitos

I woke up at a fish camp in Ontario to find two mosquitoes arguing about whether to eat me there or carry me back to their babies.

AK Has the biggest, meanest skeeters on the planet.

It would not be difficult to drain the washers into a small underground leach field. That is what most of us in rural TX do with grey water.

It's when you swat them and they just look up, laugh at you, and keep on guzzling that you know you may be up against something that is more than just an annoyance....:)

Re: mosquitos

Here in Arkansas most people assume the reason we only duck hunt between December and February is compatibility with migration patterns, decreased impact on the birds, etc. In reality, it's because that's the only time we can tell the ducks and mosquitoes apart down there in waterfowl country.

Was talking to my cousin in Alaska who manages a small air field. He recalled pumping 30 gal of aviation fuel in to one before he realized it was a mosquito.
