Vega's rule Ok the one with the paper mache blocks were junk. In 1976 I bought a brand new Cosworth Twin Can Vega for those who never heard of them the name Cosworth should have rung a bell. This car was the Fastest little car on the market 175hp Webber carbs Corvette/Z-28 suspenion they were all black with gold trim brushed aluimium dashes with the production number on the dash mine was 211. Many time at stop lights I heard it's just a Vega....then they got smoked the car was so light and overpowered what a ride!!!!!!!!!!

Corvair - NOT. Hadn't been for Ralph Nader we'd still be driving them. Great little car. <br /><br />How about he Nash Metropolitan - there was a really messed up 2-seater with abosolutely no sports appeal at much less practical application.

i know this is alittle off topic, but i'd like for nate & jb to get together & explain what the deal was, with corvairs.<br /><br />i've not heard of a problem. i have heard though, that the corvair spider was a hellovan engine for many lightweight apps... and i wonder just how that pancake engine worked into the other designs of later model 'pancakes'... <br /><br />but on the orig topic - my pop had an ugggggly pinto when i was in high school. he was a frugal man though - it was cheap on gas, never failed him. i'd say the absolute ugly i remember was a pacer. much worse than a gremlin. amc was hittin 50/50 with at least offering the jeep & javelin...

It was the only thing I've ever driven that I felt like rolling the window down at a stoplight and announcing to the world that this monstrosity was not mine.

Nobody mentioned the Yugo? You think the corvair was a deathtrap. Acutally had one of those for a time, now you can't even find a Yugo in a junkyard. They just disappeared.

My brother in law has one of the top in ugly. A Dodge Neon 4 door ricer. <br />It's fast and all for a 4cyl, but can't even come close to my old school Ford. <br />I tell him that racing his 4 cylinder is kind of like the special olympics. He may win but he's still retarded.

i traveled to california last year for work. when i went to pick up the rental car, the girl behind the counter said my vehicle was right outside the door. i looked out and saw a tricked out pt cruiser. "why am i getting a pt cruiser?", i asked her. she responded, "we like to take care of our military members, so we always provide free upgrades." didn't have the heart to say anything.

I can tell you the most embarrassing car I owned. It was a flesh colored 1980 Ford Escort station wagon. I bought it for the wife to drive when we had our daughter, and she would not drive it, so I used it as a work car. I can tell you that it was always embarrassing rolling up to the company area in what the other soldiers always referred to as "the plucked chicken". That car would not go faster than 30 mph when the A/C was on, but that A/C was so cold you could hang meat in the car on a summer day. Ugly arse car.....

Fair go!<br /><br />That was my first car.<br /><br />Mini 850. Well engineered front wheel drive years ahead of its time. Also one of the few cars BMC generally mangaged to build right.<br /><br />Police here used the Cooper S version as pursuit cars and they'd run down Ford and GM big bangers. A Cooper S won Bathurst (our big annual race) in the mid-60's, beating an open field of assorted V8's and other big and little guns. In their day they were probably the equivalent of a Subaru WRX nowadays.<br /><br />Nothing could keep up with them on twisty roads.<br /><br />The current revival version has nothing to do with the original.
