I took the foot off and checked it. it looked fine. the rod going up to moter looked like it had some wear on it. im just wanted to know if it is that or does this moter has a cluth in it. Re: moter or prop repair

Sounds as though you have a spun hub in your prop. Take it to a prop shop and they can tell you right away. If you look at the hub on the prop you may be able to see for yourself. It will look disformed. Another way is to take a permanant marker and mark the prop hub and the prop housing. run the boat as you normally would and when you're done, see if the marks still match. If not, the hub is spun and will need repair at the shop. No clutch, per say.

If you're talking about the drive shaft splines (that go into the powerhead), they would be torn up big time if that caused a slip... And you would hear some grinding when it does slip.

Can you post a pic? Otherwise, check the prop hub like rick suggests....

Agree with Rick.. sounds like the prop could be slipping.
The clutch set-up is usually a Clutch Dog type that engages at low revs and you need to "Snap" it in gear quickly so it meshes without too much protest. They usually don't slip, they just GRIND
