You may be able to gently massage the area with a jewelers file to remove the burr or at least get it to a better condition than its in. Are there any visible cracks next to the burr? I would also check the area on the crankshaft rides next to the burr. You may see why it happened.

Thanks Joe. I'll try that.

I had a friend of mine (whos an auto mechanic) look at the cylinders today and he referred me to a local machine shop that can "fill in" the gouge in the cylinder from the ring that dissentigrated.

By the way, what happens to one of those stuck rings that just dissentegrates? Does it make it's way out the exhaust port somehow?

OK, I now have the powerhead to a local machine shop to overbore the 2 damaged cylinders.

Who do you recomend for parts - online source or a local dealer?

Also, I was thinking about repainting the cover while I am at it. Since it is above the water, will regular spray paint work?
