I purchased a 1986 bass boat a little over a year ago. When my son, 13yrs, and I went to look at the boat it was already running, and I put it in forward and reverse. Then I stopped the engine and started right back up. While I was out of town the owner delivered the unit, and upon my return it would not start. I called the owner and he said that the unit required a little starter fluid. I did not start the unit, and 6 months later took it to an outboard repair facility where I was informed that it had good fire but low compression.

The boat has set for another 6 months as we did not have the funds to repair the unit. However, a my sons best friend father has a 200 hp that he gave to me but it has a longer foot.

My question is: Can I use the foot and other parts off my 1979 serial #5432240 Back Max Mercury 150 on the 1984 serial #6538653 black max mercury 200

Tired and not to much money. Just wanted to get some advice.
