Motor comes up out of water

I took the toon out, today, and things were twice as bad with the hydrofoil on. The pontoon planed out, almost immediately, and about 10 MPH it started racing, and losing bite. Planing out is not really a good thing, I think, with 19" tubes, because I got alot more splash off bow than usual. It did not seem to climb waves, as well, either. I am beginning to think the motor is too high on the transom, and simply not deep enough in the water. Possible when this motor was put on this pontoon, (both 1987) a standard length shaft was put on, rather than a long shaft. I would have thought problem would have occurred before, and resolved, but you never know. Need to get mod# and see if I can find out.
