Motor corrosion

I am looking at a boat that has a 2000 model 60hp Yamaha. It looks clean under the cowl, but the gaskets have corrosion all the way around them, none on the metal of the motor. Is this a sign of inside corrosion from not flushing saltwater properly?

Probably just the original paint flaking off that gasket material. I would doubt it indicates a big corrosion problem, but who knows? Maybe ask the owner about his flushing and preventive maintenance habits, any problems with this motor?
