I have a 1990 Evinrude 50 hp that needs a little TLC. While doing my homework, I came across a 1990 40hp cowling for sale. This cowling looks VERY SIMILAR to mine, but it has different part numbers.

Will it fit?

It is cheaper for me to buy this cowling and swap the HP plates on either end than it would be for me to sand, paint, and order replacement decals.

I know the 40 hp is a two clyinder motor like my 50 hp and they are both 1990 models and both were equiped with VRO.

Can I make the swap?

Thanks,
Ginder75

Yes they will swap. The different part numbers are due to the different badging...

ALRIGHT!!!!

That is great news! I will spend a little more on parts, but a lot less then I would have on redoing it from scratch!!!

Leave the 40hp logos on. That will iratate others whose 40s you beat and 50s you keep up with

Re: Motor Cowl

I see the point,

Looks like I will be the owner of a cleaned up outboard with a little extra under the hood! WATCH OUT trackers, this little home built is going to sneak up on you!

Thanks for the help.
