Okay you guys got me up and running when my reverse wouldn't work lets try again. Having 2 issues one is that the motor ('71 merc 65hp) will only go maybe half speed, but then I turned the boat around and it started to go full out, have checked and can't see the cable binding and now it won't go more then half speed. Second issue I was out and was testing the thottle and pushed it down and the motor died. Started up and would idle but as soon as it went into gear it would die. I had probably 1/4 of a tank of gas so I didn't run out of gas. I filled it anyway. Finally I idled the boat and gently put it in gear and it started to go forward very slowly and after awhile it went back to driving the half speed it was going. Any ideas?
