My hat's off to you 'knowledge base' guys!

"Fuel problems, check here first" and link the (here) to the check the fuel pump first statement.

I vote for all newbies to be required to check their fuel pump before posting it take 10mins and should be standard procedure, also i believe all fuel pump diaphrams are the same for 9-150hp, correct me if i'm wrong.

I wish this was standard procedure too. I posted the symptoms and was told to do coils and points first. Did that and still same issue. I didn't know that fuel pumping from back of fuel pump meant it was bad and didn't know this was a fuel issue until i discovered it would run full speed until i accidentally pulled the fuel line. As a "newbie", I didn't even know what the fuel pump was and how it worked, but now I know a bunch about my motor. I'm thankful people took the time and effort to help me.

As for fuel pump diaphragms, I don't think they make repair kits for the one i have so i'll have to buy a new one. I hope the motor runs flawlessly after this is done.

I bet it will start easier and run like a scalded dog with a good supply of fuel. Glad you tore into the fuel pump and weren't wanting to keep trying some "easy" outside fixes like so many.
