Hi,

We have this trolling motor and according to the schematic, a 3 position switch is missing.

I can't figure out where it fastens down inside the motor head or how to turn it on outside the head.

The 3 wires that go to the switch are loose of course. I can get it to run in reverse but not forward. How can I get it to run in forward with what I have now?

Thanks Bob

Forward to reverse on dc current is simply reversing polarity. From the 3 wires find out which one is hot (12v) to ground, take the hot wire and touch it to either one of the remaining two, one should be forward and the other reverse. if you only have reverse then you'll have to dissasemble and find out where the bad connection is. This is just a guess, I'm not familiar with what you have there.

There is no on/off switch. Just turn the handle.

Thanks.

The switch you are missing is a REV-OFF-FWD switch. So how are you making it run in reverse without that switch?

My Dad said he got it to shut off by turning th grip all the way to the left, but I couldn't get it to do it.

There are three main wires that go to the switch and by trying different combinations, I could only get it to run in reverse.

Some motors have a middle ground setting with the twist grip that puts it in neutral. Go right and go forward, left of neutral, reverse. This one doesn't seem to have a neutral or forward doing it that way.

Beats me.

Switch can be picked up off of ebay, if your unit is not digital I would be careful, one wrong arc and that board is gone, and you will not be able to find one easy, they are out there, but at a preimium
